Ok, first off all the computers are running 10.4.8 including the Accounting server. The cache files will be named similarly to the preference files, but with a ".cache" extension. There may also be cache files in "/Users/gabby/Library/Caches" - these can be safely trashed since the application will re-create them as and when necessary. Check the ownership/permissions for these. What about "/Users/gabby/Library/Preferences"? And similar for the other users? If the developers play by the rules, any preference file should be named something like "", but whatever it is should be obvious. Ls -aolR /Applications/"MultiLedger 7f"and let's see the results.Īre you sure there are no Preference files for MultiLedger? There may be some in "/Library" but these would be the same for all users. Is Gabby's account also more recent than the working accounts on his machine? There may be some "history" involved, in that obviously any new account you make is more recent than the working accounts. Well, this evidence points to Gabby's machine being the problem, although the fact that someone else was able to use it OK seems odd. I've created a new user account in MultiLedger, yet this user is still getting this error. I've formatted the hard drive and reloaded OS X and all the software. Hoping that maybe someone can give me some ideas that may fix things. MultiLedger's tech support has assured me that it's not a problem with their software, but a permissions issue with OS X, which is why I'm here. We have 4 people that use it and only 1 user is getting this error (error -54 from MultiLedger). Then they open the company data that is stored on the fileserver. The client computers (iMacs) mount the drive of the fileserver and then open the MultiLedger program locally. The way it's setup is we have a fileserver (just an iMac G5) that is holding the Accounting data.
